The Vardåsen is a light, soft merino wool sweater designed for movement, comfort, and modern versatility. Knitted from 100% skin-soft merino wool, this light mid-layer offers warmth without bulk. The slim, athletic silhouette and medium-high zip neck create a clean profile that transitions effortlessly from ski days to city streets.

Inspired by Dale of Norway’s rich archive, the design reinterprets classic Norwegian patterns, including the eight-petal rose, traditional lice patterns, and heritage borders. Embossed linear detailing adds texture and depth, giving the pullover a contemporary Scandinavian character. The quarter-zip neckline allows for easy layering, while the flatbed knit ensures a clean finish inside and out. Rooted in tradition yet shaped for today, Vardåsen women’s sweater is a confident expression of Norwegian knitwear heritage in a modern form.

The Vardåsen design builds on decades of Dale of Norway craftsmanship. Drawing from our extensive archive, it incorporates distinctive details from the iconic Peace sweater, classic lice patterns, and the signature eight-petal rose – a symbol that has defined Norwegian knitwear for generations. These historic elements have been thoughtfully reinterpreted to create a seamless dialogue between past and present, reflecting Dale of Norway’s enduring commitment to quality, tradition, and timeless Norwegian design.

Vardåsen is a ski resort in Asker, just a 30-minute drive from downtown Oslo. Its name originates from the signal beacons (“varde”) that Vikings once placed on mountaintops and high ridges as an early warning system. These beacons were visible from peak to peak – and when danger approached, fires were lit to spread the alarm across the land.
